On the first day I was pretty bummed about certain things here but it took some time to warm up to this great holiday getaway.

It was the 2nd day when I went on a tour to the Phi Phi Islands that made me change my mood about this altogether. I enjoyed myself alot, and somehow, was glad I went on this tour alone 'cos I could be carefree, sit at the front of the boat and not worry about sea sickness, jump into the water and free dive to see the corals; do what I want. I wonder how these guys working here live their lives everyday; an island life. If I had the money I would definitely want to retire with the island life. The waters and skies here are really blue! (Though, the waters weren't as clear as Redang's. Maybe it's seasonal.)

Har Har. To feed my ego, the girl that was a guide assistant on the boat requested to take a photo of/with me. LOL. Somehow, people here keep asking me where I'm from. One of the receptionists said I looked nice and 'fresh' when I smile. Don't know what the 'fresh' part means. Maybe 'cos I haven't experienced the nightlife here yet. (Didn't dare to venture out and get drunk alone outside. sadface)

Well, on a short note, I'd definitely come back with this same resort + tour 'combo', but next time, I should call along a group. Enjoy the nightlife together *sniggers*.

I'm lookin at my friends abroad, the lives they're living now, and I'm wondering what am I gonna do with mine? I better start planning goals and saving money. Focus on NS and let it pass next to uni where I'll probably have to work part-time. At the moment, I'm tired of irresponsible people. On a personal note, it downright disgusts me. I never liked the feeling of vulnerability. Living like a kid when you're in your 20s is vulnerability at its worst.

I've always tested myself; What if I were trapped alone in an island? Would I be able to survive with the resources around me? Will I be able to live alone and cope with seclusion? What happens if a smoker suddenly finds himself cigarette-less one day. I believe that if I can truly do those, I'm less vulnerable. I'd be able to do anything. Luxuries and friends are bonuses. Time to change.

Redang was enjoyable! The beach that is. The resort I stayed in this time blows. Even hopped over to Laguna Redang where I stayed at before. It was grand. It was memorable.

Phuket next Tuesday and I'm already burnt. Gonna consider Thara Patong Beach Resort & Spa for some spa action and premier resort environment. Expensive though.

In the end, you'll always be alone.

I suddenly remembered why I took this photo.

There's the boy. He is defined by his sillhouette, his outer shell. But inside, it's all but clear. Filled with emptiness; darkness. Face and body unseen; I have yet to find out who I really am, what I am really meant to be. Arms extended; the need for enlightenment. A small part's still lingering in the security of my past, yet the rest is moving on with the flow. I'm confused; no, not gay; just confused.

Today I went down to World Resort Sentosa to attend a briefing for tomorrow's event. Yes, I got a weekend job there. Being there and seeing and mixing with the other people made me realise that I actually enjoy the company of many. It made me think. Alot. I enjoy being introduced to new people. I enjoy the company of friends, and always will. I appreciate all the new friends I've made in the past few months, always will. I've just come to realise... maybe I'm just not ready to get into a commitment just yet. Too many thoughts, too many mixed feelings. Should just take things slow and easy; I'm not gonna play. I never do and I never will. It's just gotta come naturally.

This month's just gotta be my month. My group's MASINA report placed in top 3 in the SYMC competition (gotta give a presentation in June), I got an event job at Resorts World Sentosa for this weekend given by my ex-boss/supervisor who used to be in Mediacorp and my good friend Matthew just offered me a one-week job which is coming soon. Plus, my humble pay from my recent 4 days in Mediacorp is comin in. (taking quite long though D:)

Back to blogging. Last time, this month was my Broke Month, 'cos I'd always be broke 'cos there're so many people having their birthdays this month!! So in case I don't blog again by then or if I get hit by a car tomorrow or if I don't manage to treat you people this year...

Finally ended work @ mC today. Hope I won't be called back to deal with anything related to "Just", "for" and "laughs" ever again. Cleaning up the mess made by some slipshot quality control from some people. It's so bullshit. Why hire someone when they produce/contribute shitty work. And WHY pay them so much more than interns, especially interns could be capable of doing much better work. The term "intern" has become an excuse to procure cheap labour rather than label a professional-in-the-making.

Anyway, last night, my dad's car batt went flat on me for the first time at West Coast. Cool shit. Just called ComfortDelgro to bring over a mechanic to jumpstart the car; luckily it was pretty under control. But now the radio's busted. My dad realised that and questioned me with his apprehensive tone. Well, I confessed about the battery flat part. But guess what. Instead of accusing me, he realises that it's about time to send the car for servicing. GREAT SAVE, honesty!

Wow, I realised I forget things really fast. The whole time I was in mC, I only remembered a handful of names, even when I still got 'hellos' from others. What's gonna happen 5 years down the road. Am I going to forget my sec-sch mates' names? Memory is just a perplexing thing. I remember certain things vividly (by choice, mostly) and totally forget anything else. I love my filtering system.

Anyway, gonna look for more temporary/project-based jobs to do after this mC one. Need to save more $$$.

Been keeping myself busy for the past few weeks. Today marks the continuation of my free-and-easy life, after having finished my task at MediaCorp today. Gotta get the motivation to start training again, probably why I'm gonna go have a haircut now. Cut it real short and feel like how I was back in dragonboat; without a care, besides fitness.

Gonna get my act back together now. Can't afford too many early morning meals (3am onwards) and sleeping at sunrise. So here's my list of goals for the next few weeks.

1) Wake up early (6am? 8am?) for morning run

2) Eat 3 meals a day: Carbo Breakfasts, Mixed Lunches, Meaty Dinners

3) Increase weight by at least 2kg

4) 3km Run, Gym, Easy-Swim on Tuesdays + Thursdays

5) 5km Easy-Run, light gym (tentative) on Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

6) 1 supper = 3km of extra jog/run

7) Squeeze in 1 rock-climbing session with Mel and gang every week.

8) Complete Heavy Rain.

9) Have my Mac fixed.

10) Save $100 a week.

10) Play hard on weekends. (when presented with the opportunity).

I miss my childhood, and not just any part of it. I miss when i could afford to go on holidays... Riding on non-budget airlines... My favourite was Qatar airlines that time my mom and i flew over to UAE to visit my dad who was living there at the time... The plane was really cosy, despite the long flight. Now my parents have no wish to travel. Not with the whole family at least. Not on a nice airplane, always a budget one. I miss life as an expatriate's son, going to an international school where it's always interesting to make new friends cos you experience different cultures from around the world and not just regional. Miss not having to worry about money all the time. I miss the nice airports i've been to. The nice places we've visited. I miss life before now.

I just rented "UP" and I was so moved by the old man's story (his promises and aspirations with his wife) that it made me remember of how things used to be.

I remember making plans of the future, adventures and small things that would keep us excited like little kids. It just tore me everytime, in the movie, scenes of Fredricksen missing his late wife appeared. How they made a promise to go to South Africa together and live in a colourful house near a majestic waterfall on a barren mountain plateau. How his wife, when young, had a scrapbook that showed plans of adventuring to south africa, living there. It even listed the things she wanted to do when she would grow up, which back then seemed like mostly moving to South Africa next to the waterfall. It killed me even more when Fredricksen opened his late wife's scrapbook (from childhood) and discovered that before his wife died, she filled in the "Things to do" pages with photos of their wedding, their picnics, their activities and pictures of them aging through the pages.

This movie is AMAZZZZINGGG!!!!

Even better than Transformers 1 & 2!! I tell you, no movie (for me) has ever had such beautiful CG, believable, humanized fictional characters and such captivating scenes. In this 3 hour-plus journey, I found myself falling in love with the natives of Pandora.

I feel that somehow, the movie impacted me more than I think. Jake Sully was living the life of a cripple; wheelchair-bound and monotonous life. When he was given the opportunity to be 'reborn' into the life of one of the people of Pandora, he finally finds his place in life, his true identity.

I wish I was given the same opportunity... to find out what I'm really here for. Why am I pushing days of this pointless, black-and-white monotony. I'm practically invisible to everyone, and I'm just doing what everyone else is doing; education. There just has to be this purpose for me, I hope, similar to the messages behind the movie, Avatar. I need to wake up and realise who I am, what I'm supposed to do.

I have to meet people I can fit in with... I'd like to meet someone with integrity and self-respect, not like the kinds of people here that just mindlessly laze through trends to forage meaning in life and faux maturity... so to speak... I just wish it was as easy as jumping into an avatar and stumbling upon the one thing that will change my life...

...or rather, butts were. This contest held outside Jurong Point 2 captivated a Sunday-afternoon crowd and definitely plastered smiles around the spectators' faces.

The terms of this contest was for the guy to piggyback the girl for as long as possible; last one standing wins a cash prize or something. Definitely, this requires (for the guy) a strong back and... a petite girlfriend.

It's really cheating how some of the contestants there have small-sized girlfriends; doesn't that make it easier compared to the rest? Haha... Choy and bf should take part then eh. LOL.

Anyway, the whole event was a cheeky-yet-heart-warming attempt to involve the patrons of JP2. Companies should have taken this opportunity to sponsor, imho.

4) Some taxi drivers are such assholes such that they think people owe them a living, they race through the streets at 120km/h when the limit's just 90km/h and they purposely avoid passengers JUST before midnight charge!

Because of inefficient service from the JP dentist, my bAby's in the hospital now 'cos the root canal she had was not done properly. Some germs were left uncleaned and caused an infection which has to be taken out by operation. Because of the infection, she's having on/off fever and is puking about.

All this when A levels are on Monday...

All this when I'm deeply submerged in school projects and assignment...

I feel fucking useless but i'll still try to go visit her tomorrow after school.

Today, I took part in my first dragonboat race ever at Kallang. 10km... AHHHH...

Waiting before the start, I saw many of the other rowers from other polys and organizations and they were all older than us! NP was the only one who sent a whole Year 1 team to race! =0 Everyone else was either older or had mixed teams (Year1+Year2+Year3).

Guess this is just for exposure but fortunately everyone on the boat had the passion to win. Even with setbacks (we got pushed off course and collided with the side walls), we pushed on and managed to move up from LAST place to about 5 or 6 boats in front (i think). In the end, I don't really know which place we were in or what our timing was, but I feel good that we kept going and kept our morale high.

One word to describe the whole thing.....

I really missed those days back in my childhood when I had friends that were fellow hardcore gamers but not total geeks. Here, everyone just doesn't have the interest or would rather spend money on other stuff.

Saw an ad going around about Xbox Xperts being set up in Singapore to flourish the gaming community. So far, this girl with the nick "Sheylara" is the face of this movement. Added her online and so far it's encouraging to be amongst fellow gamers.

Now, I'm just cranking up my ps3 or 360 for online games with people I barely know from abroad.

I WOULD watch the movie again on account of it was just that good, but, I'd rather not 'cos the scenes and stories are pretty hard to forget.

THROUGH sweat and tears, roars and cheers, Team Voice had finished their newspaper project with a blissful cheer.

Well, okay.. maybe not. HAHA! I can't believe I'm writing in newswriting fashion but I don't know, I guess I'm gonna miss it? (Cos next sem, it'll be Feature Writing!! Die!!)

It's been fun though. It felt nice covering events I may never have considered attending before. One example is the Kobayashi vs Chestnut event at Robertson Walk. I was a big fan, watching their competitions on ESPN. It was an extreme thrill to actually catch them live, here in Singapore. And the excitement that pervaded every competition on TV... I felt at the area itself. From where we were, we could smell the food, see the red, choking faces of the contestants and even see the bits of food being spewed around. More pics below...

Probably I'll do some writing during the holidays if inspiration comes up. For now, it's time to STUDY!

Anyway, I'm back to NP work mode. (And hating every second of it.) No, I don't hate DOING work. I hate the whole going-to-school-and-rushing-through-projects complex. School life seems deflated. I just wanna get this seven to eight weeks over and done with.

I'm really glad that I went back to CSS during the holidays to visit the one external family I've always loved and will always cherish, CSS Choir. (Well, although there're lots of unfamiliar faces in it now and the whole atmosphere has become less CSS Choir '06-like, it still gives me the platform to reminisce about the good old times. Going back with fellow ex-choir mates is all so heavenly, compensating the lack of nostalgia due to the new un-homely campus. Come to think of it, just seeing old faces and hearing heart-whole chords being sung in SATB just provides the most dire feeling of nostalgia.

In secondary school, choir was always the number one thing on our minds. It's not just the singing but the family that motivated us to focus on choir. We've gone through almost everything; training hard for competitions, going overseas, having FUN overseas, mugging for our exams, failing our exams and then picking up the pace, impromptu instant-noodle dinners after training, kbox-ing, etc...

Heck, we even sang everywhere we went! We'd go to the back of the class and start sounding out tunes or harmony, or even attempt another of those really high Jay Chou songs (for the guys). Even our choir mates from other classes would come to the back of our class or even outside of it during breaks just to chill with us and spark off some tunes.

Ah heck, I'm just getting more depressed as I'm typing this out. Guess expressing is just not for me.

Back to reality...

P.S. Skinny? I've just got high metabolism.. duhhhhh.

Feel so fucking miserable today.

First thing, I woke up to the lack of my dad sitting outside in my living room, reading the morning paper. The activity and life of my living room is just not there.. in fact.. the life of this house is gone since my dad went back to the Philippines. I miss my Dad.

And then, I just realised how expendable I am... even in a relationship. I.. just... feel... out.. of... place... so... fucked... up...

Wanted to go jogging but did not have my lunch yet so I helped myself to some chicken rice down at the coffeeshop at 303. Went to the gym for a while to warm up then went to Chinese Garden MRT to top up ez link. When I started my jog, no... BEFORE I started my jog.. while I was walking.. some fucking crazy fucker suddenly lunged at me and poked his fucking nose on my chest.... My split-second reaction was moving back but dunno how the fuck the guy lunged so far forward.. fucking pedo... Why do all these kind of weird stuff happen to me???? Not to mention being molested by a women with obviously fake breasts in Bugis Street the other time... She kept grabbing me shoulder from behind and pulling as if i KNOW her.. then tugging on my shirt... then her friend in front kept blocking my way then she kept pushing on me with her fucking disgusting fake tits.. bitch..

on it, it just looks GAY and the colours for some reason aren't as dark and shady as the one in the artbook.. and why is the design a sticker instead of that plastic design wrap??? What the fuck did that china woman do to my phone?! She didn't even make clean cuts.. She made FUGLY cuts that Martha Stewart would go ballistic on! I blew $38 just like that.

It's been how many days already.. like maybe a WEEK... and they STILL haven't found Mas Selamat??? This just tells us Singapore is NOT safe and that training given to our armed forces is not enough. Cant believe the Singapore Armed Forces are taking a long time to find this guy, not to mention detaining him.. Singapore is quite small compared to other countries AND the highly-advertised Singapore Army should have been trained in several situations, even jungle warfare. Okay.. So far, I'm content with the quality of my camera phone.. Sony Ericsson K850i. Alot of forums online have been debating over the actual quality of the images this phone delivers as well as that of other 5mpx phones out there. Here are my opinions:

1) Nokia N95- The only reason why the images look nicer and the colours are more vibrant are because Nokia uses some filter to enhance the look of the images u snap. (read it from somewhere)

2) Samsung G800- Nice meh? Although I dig its optical zoom (vs digital zoom, opt is physical and much clearer in zoomed pics), I think Samsung's camera phones have so-so image quality only.

3) LG ViewTy- Tested it out at some shop yesterday. I'd have to say its camera quality isn't that bad but the 120fps video recording it uses as one of its USPs (Unique Selling Propositions) isn't all that good. If my 15/30 fps video recording on the k850i is considered laggy and pixelated, the one on the Viewty is only a bit better than that. (tried it out and expected more)

*Not to mention I've been using the iPod Touch for the past few months and I just think any other attempts from other companies to swing into the 'touchscreen' trend is futile.

4) Finally, my own phone, K850i. Well, one BIG problem with mine is that photos I take always seem hazy and the colours seem dull. Take for example

Well, I gotta say the latter looks much better.. but can only be achieved if I edit it. Means for almost all the future pics I take, I gotta edit each and every one of them =x. Hope Sony Ericsson comes up with a new Firmware release to fix this...

OH YEAH! F***!!! SE is playing with my feelings! I just got this K850i and am settling well with it... just had its firmware upgraded and now there are less bugs. As I was saying.. just when I was getting cosy with my K850i, out comes.......

Preparation took me hours and hours.. Eventually went to sleep at 3+. Then I woke up at 4+ and took a cab down to Jurong West extension... On the way, I called her up to tell her to WAKE UP FOR SCHOOL! Then waited at the bus stop near her house till she showed up, on her way to school. She couldn't stop smiling xD

Anyway, this is what I bought for her..

We met up again for lunch at Miss Clarity Cafe at Bugis. Was stuffed from all the good food we ate there! And the Mud Ooze.. a specialty dessert there. (Vanilla icecream on top of half baked brownie in a mug).

We then went to Vivo City where there were MILLIONS of people there! Like damn.. for a weekday, it sure was crowded. We went to some pet shop at the top level..
